Product Partnering Opportunities

Adding Value
Arana has several compounds available for partnering and out-licensing.

ART621 is a domain antibody based therapeutic developed through Arana’s collaboration with Domantis. The compound completed Phase I clinical trials in October 2007 and successfully completed a Phase II clinical trial in patients with stable plaque psoriasis in March 2009. Arana will continue clinical development of ART621 with two ongoing Phase II trials for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in combination with methotrexate. This compound offers a unique opportunity for companies wishing to participate in a rapidly expanding market (revenues for TNF biologics in 2007 were in excess of US$13 billion) in a number of indications, including rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

PMX53 is our lead peptide derivative which inhibits inflammation by targeting the human C5a ‘complement’ factor receptor – a new approach that is widely regarded in the field as offering significant opportunity for new treatments in inflammatory diseases including osteoarthritis. Arana is continuing pre-clinical studies which are expected to be completed by Q3 2009, and a data package will be assembled in preparation for out-licensing.

ART104 is a monoclonal antibody with demonstrated direct cancer cell killing properties. This product is undergoing the final stage of lead optimisation with co-development partner Kyowa Hakko Kirin (KHK) and will be developed initially for the treatment of colorectal cancers and has potential for additional indications.

ART010 is an osteoprotegerin variant protein which inhibits the RANK/RANKL interaction, and has been shown in cell-based testing to retain little, if any, TRAIL inhibiting activity, while preserving the full ability of Osteoprotegerin to reduce bone loss. The lead indication will be the treatment of cancer related bone loss and initial clinical studies are scheduled to commence early 2010.
