Arana has a number of anti-cancer antibodies in its pipeline that warrant further development, based on the results from discovery stage and pre-clinical studies. In 2006, the cancer market for monoclonal antibody therapies totaled US$7.8 billion. Through the expansion of approved indications and the emergence of additional antibodies, sales are estimated to more than double by 2016.Incidence of cancer will continue to rise due to the aging population and a number of other factors, such as adoption of Western diets and smoking trends. The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that global incidence of cancer will increase 50% from 10 million cases in 2000 to 15 million in 2020
